Dr. René Jean-Jumeau acquired a Licence (B.S. degree) in electro-mechanical engineering from The School of Engineering of the State University of Haiti (Université d’Etat d’Haiti –UEH) and a Doctorate (Ph.D.) in Electrical Engineering, from Cornell University, in Ithaca, New York, USA.
Dr. Jean-Jumeau is presently Director of the Institut Haïtien de l’Energie (Haitian Institute for Energy), a private, independent, nonprofit institution which has no political affiliations. He was formerly Minister Delegate for Energy at the Prime Minister’s Office (2012-2014) ; Under Secretary of State for Energy at the Haitian Ministry of Public Works, Transportation and Communications (2012) ; and Coordinator of the Energy Sector Management Unit in the Ministry of Public Works, Transport and Communications (MTPTC) in Port-au-Prince (2009-2011). He also served as Senior Advisor for matters of Energy to the Minister of Public Works in Port-au-Prince, Haiti (2005-2009) and, previous to that, as Advisor to the Under Secretary of State for Energy and Telecommunications (2004). As such, he has been a well-known energy reference for the island nation for the past 14 years.
